Forefront TMG Service Pack 1 – Now Available!

June 23, 2010

Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG) 2010 is now available! In addition to the usual bug fixes included in a service pack, this update also includes new features and functionality. Included in TMG SP1 are enhancements to URL filtering, including user override for blocked categories and enterprise-level category override configuration. Reporting has been improved, with a new overall look-and-feel and a user activity report option. In addition, there are new branch office capabilities including support for installing TMG on a domain controller and integration with Windows BranchCache. Also, publishing SharePoint 2010 is now fully supported. For more information, read my full preview of TMG SP1 at ISAserver.org, and download Forefront TMG 2010 SP1 today!

    I downloaded this file.. and tried to run it on the TMG server.. it [s]ays the install was interupted before TMG SP1 could be completely installed.. .

    Is there a special way I need to install?

    Thanks for the info…

    Make certain that you are running the update with elevated privileges. For more information, please review the TMG SP1 installation guide here.

    According to the installation document, you must install the update using the exact same account you installed TMG with. In many instances this will be the local administrators account. If that doesn’t work, you may have to call PSS for assistance.

    Hi,
    Is the problem with a SPACE in the username for ‘User Activity Reports’ already solved?

    Microsoft support is aware of the issue, but as far as I know there is no workaround and as of yet, no hot fix. I’ll let you know if there is any more news on this though.

    Just in case anyone else is looking for a resolution to the “install was interrupted” error message, make sure you downloaded the correct SP1:

    amd64 = 64bit
    x86 = 32bit

    You will get the error above when installing the 32bit version on 64bit hardware.
